Two BVM sisters celebrating golden jubilees
DUBUQUE — Two Sisters of Charity, BVM will celebrate their jubilees on April 12, 2016, with an evening prayer of jubilee and gratitude in the Mount Carmel Motherhouse Chapel, in Dubuque, Iowa, followed by a reception.
The two golden jubilarians listed below entered the BVM congregation on July 31, 1966.
Sister Susan Coler, BVM
Sister Susan Coler was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and professed first vows on April 5, 1969, and final vows on July 21, 1984. She taught at Xavier HS in St. Louis, and was music instructor, academic advisor and co-director of student development at Mundelein College, Chicago. In St. Paul, she served as law clerk for a federal district judge. Since 1991, she has ministered as an attorney in Minneapolis/St. Paul. “I feel blessed to have shared this journey with so many generous people who have shared their love, wisdom and spirituality with me,” says Sister Susan. “BVMs of incredible wisdom, grace and strength have inspired me to think boldly and act justly.”
Sister (Mary) Ann Cronin, BVM
Sister Ann Cronin was born in San Francisco and professed first vows on Feb. 2, 1969, and final vows on Oct. 3, 1976. Sister Ann taught elementary school at St. Robert Bellarmine in Burbank; and Mission Dolores, St. Paul ES, and St. Thomas More ES in San Francisco, where she also ministered as elementary school principal, administrative assistant, substitute teacher, volunteer, day care tutor, and worked in alumni/development. She continues to minister as part time day care tutor and substitute. “Being a BVM is the most important gift I possess,” says Sister Ann. “Every day I thank God for the gift of belonging to this wonderful, faith-filled congregation.”
