This Memorial Day weekend, the Archdiocese of Dubuque celebrated the ordination of five new priests and two transitional deacons.
Fathers Ralph Davis, Kevin Earleywine, Dennis Conway, Andrew Marr and Austin Wilker received the sacrament of holy orders on the morning of Saturday, May 27, at the Cathedral of St. Raphael in Dubuque.
The evening before, Friday, May 26, Jacob Rouse and Andy Upah were ordained as transitional deacons, also at the cathedral.
The transitional diaconate is a temporary state for men who wish to go on to the priesthood. Deacons Rouse and Upah will pursue one additional year of education and formation before entering the priesthood in the spring of 2018.
More information and photos of the ordinations will be available in the June 11 issue of The Witness.
