CEDAR RAPIDS — The Archdiocese of Dubuque’s Office of Family Life, in conjunction with the Archdiocesan Task Force on Natural Family Planning, has released the first in what will be a series of videos meant to raise greater awareness and understanding of the church’s teaching on natural family planning (NFP).
“My hope is that people watching this video will see that there is so much more to the church’s teaching on marriage and family love and relationships in general, and human sexuality and NFP in particular, than what is generally believed (and often misunderstood) to be our Catholic understanding on these subjects,” said Father Jerry Kopacek, a member of the NFP task force and the presenter in the first, introductory video of the series. The second video is already underway and will feature the “top 10 reasons to use NFP.”
Other upcoming videos in the series will highlight natural family planning methods, as well as testimonials by couples who have used NFP, including those who have used it to overcome infertility. This series of videos is being produced with the help of Dan Rouse of OnMedia, a division of Mediacom Business out of Cedar Rapids. Once the videos are completed, the archdiocese plans to promote them via social media.
This fall, packets of information will also be sent to parishes and colleges that will highlight the videos and will provide posters and brochures that can be used to promote the NFP top-10 list.
