Sinsinawa Dominican jubilees
SINSINAWA, Wis. —
Sister Carol Sutter, OP, celebrated her 60th jubilee in June 2017. A Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, June 4, for her and 20 other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 60 years. Her religious name was Sister Aurelian.
Sister Carol’s home parish is St. Ignatius (now St. Michael the Archangel), Mount Horeb, and Holy Redeemer, Perry Mission, both in the Madison Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Odilo and the late Kathryn (Esser) Sutter. Sister Carol’s ministry has been dedicated to teaching and faith formation.
In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sister Carol served as the director of religious education at St. Joseph the Worker, Dubuque, 1985-1987.
Sister Carol is living in community at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa.
Sister Mary Montgomery, OP, celebrated her 60th jubilee in June 2017. A Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, June 4, for her and 20 other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 60 years. Her religious name was Sister Mary Henry.
Sister Mary’s home parish is St. Christina, Chicago, in the Chicago Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Gibbs) Montgomery. Sister Mary’s ministry has been dedicated to education and administration at the parish and diocesan levels.
In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sister Mary served as the director of pastoral planning for the archdiocese, 1994-2007.
Sister Mary is living in community at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
Sister Mercedes Kucera, OP, celebrated her 60th jubilee in June 2017. A Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, June 4, for her and 20 other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 60 years. Her religious name was Sister Mary Meloria.
Sister Mercedes’ home parish is St. Giles, Chicago, in the Chicago Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Seery) Kucera. Sister Mercedes’ ministry has been dedicated to teaching.
In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sister Mercedes ministered as a driver and switchboard operator at St. Dominic Villa, Dubuque, 1981-1982. She also ministered there for seven summers.
Sister Mary Liana Glynn, OP, celebrated her 60th jubilee in June 2017. A Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, June 4, for her and 20 other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 60 years.
Sister Mary Liana’s home parish is St. Matthew, Vernon Center, in the Winona Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille (Gallagher) Glynn. Sister Mary Liana’s ministry has been dedicated to elementary teaching, religious education, pastoral work and diocesan administration.
In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sister Mary Liana taught at Sacred Heart, Rockwell, 1966-1971. She served the archdiocese at the Religious Education Center, Mason City, 1971-1977, and as chancellor of the archdiocese, Dubuque, 1999-2006. She ministered as pastoral associate at Holy Family Parish, Mason City, 1977-1979, and parish facilitator at St. Matthew Parish, Cedar Rapids, 1994-1999.
Sister Mary Liana is currently living in community at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa.
Sister Christine Feagan, OP, celebrated her 50th jubilee in July 2017. A Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, July 9, for her and eight other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 50 years. Her religious name was Sister Marie Roger.
Sister Christine’s home parish is St. Mary, Freeport, in the Rockford Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Clifford and Marie (Micallef) Feagan. Sister Christine’s ministry has been dedicated to Hispanic ministry.
In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sister Chris has served as director of Hispanic ministry at St. Mary Parish, Marshalltown, since 1999.
Sister Jeri Cashman, OP, celebrated her 50th jubilee in July 2017. A Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, July 9, for her and eight other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 50 years. Her religious name was Sister Mary de Paul.
Sister Jeri’s home parish is Incarnation, Minneapolis, in the St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Murph and Lucille (Murtaugh) Cashman. Sister Jeri’s ministry has been dedicated to social work.
With the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sister Jeri was part of a team who formed base Christian communities in the parish of San Rafael, Cochabamba, Bolivia, 1976-1984. She also served as special education teacher at Cochabamba Rehabilitation Center.
